In the first game on Thursday afternoon, the HH Ladies jumped to an early lead and held on for a close 16-14 victory. A late inning charge by the SCP ladies fell just short. Not getting discouraged, the offense got rolling, with our ladies putting together some strong offense and defense to take the second game 6-3.

 

And the Friday games were just as exciting, with a repeat of a close game won by the Hurricanes 7-6 at 10:00 with the SCP team bouncing back for the victory in the 12:00 game by a score of 9-8.

 

Every game was just a treat for the fans, and the team wants to sincerely thank those who came out to watch the games and cheer on the blue. And kudos to all the Ladies League members who put together just a fantastic dinner for our guests from Hilton Head on Thursday evening and provided the concessions on Friday.

 

There were just so many great performances during the series. A special shout-out to the duo of pitchers who did just a tremendous job on the mound each game–Teresa Pierce and Nancy Borders.

As a board, we would like to express our thanks to everyone who made this event possible–groundskeepers, umpires, scoreboard operators, and scorekeepers. And of course, our very own Scott Martin, who as usual, did his stellar job of announcing the games. And we can’t forget the players and coaches who gave up many Sunday afternoons and evenings to practice and help the team prepare for these games. And a really, really big thanks to Vickie McBride, who is the force behind coordinating and making all of this happen with our friends in Hilton Head, as well as manager Jeannie Applebaum and coaches Linday Brayton, Lee Ann Howington, and Steve Kirchem.
